Not sure if I belong in a psych ward or in a castle drinking tea with my pinky up high? Read on and you’ll find out soon!
Buenas dias mis mejores amigos!
For those of you who would like to get to know me better, here are 17 random facts about me! I am not a leatherface chainsaw serial killer with a wooden leg, you’ll see…
#1 In high school I was always the regular kid. Never did much to offend anyone, never sat at the cool table, never smoked weed in the park or fought with guys from other schools. One year I even had Aragorn hair, which undoubtedly looks cooler when you are in Middle Earth. Yes, all pictures have been burned.
#2 I absolutely love Avicii, Macklemore and Xavier Rudd! Love everything about the freedom and the dreams in their songs. Also check out the Coastal Chill Pure Bliss playlist on youtube, you’ll drool from your ears.
#3 When I was 14yo, my dad passed away after a brain hemorrhage due to excessive alcohol abuse. This was probably one of the hardest times in my life. Never said much about it, always hated it when someone tried talking about it. I think this is why I started playing World of Warcraft for a couple of years, just to be away from it all. Growing up without a father figure was hard, but in retrospect, it made me so much fvcking stronger!
#4 I watch a lot of movies and series. Some of my absolute favorites are: Lord of the Rings, Into the Wild, Inception, Water for Elephants, Vikings, Narcos, Game of Thrones and of course The Lionking.
#5 In my 4th year of Veterinary Medicine I almost quit after very disappointing grades and many resits. But I am super glad I pushed through! Being a veterinarian really is the dream for me!
#6 During my studies I always was the odd duck. Others loved horses, cows, dogs and wanted to start a practice, I liked rhinos, grizzly bears and travelling. I soon realized wildlife veterinary medicine in the tropics was my way to go! And I absolutely love everything about it!
#7 I am very sporty and quite a health freak. I like swimming, survival runs, crossfit and have played basketball for over 11 years now. I am also huge on healthy nutrition. All of this why I like active travelling so much.
#8 Exotic food has always been something I thoroughly enjoyed. When I visit a country, I always try to learn to cook a dish or two for when I return home. It’s a great way to talk about your travels and feel like you’re in the moment again! My Thai Chicken Red Curry is world renowed, my SA Bobotie not so much.
#9 My Greatest Travel Adventure: Ko Tao (Turtle Island, Thailand); stunning jungle hikes in the morning, snorkling the most gorgeous reefs in the afternoon, swimming with sharks, finding Nemo, chilling by the ocean with a sundowner, partying ‘till the break of dawn. Ko Tao is the dream;
My Worst Travel Adventure: Sunny Beach (Bulgaria), however praised for its nightlife, beautiful weather and beaches. Drunk people looking for fights, locals trying to rip you off, and being hospitalized for 2 days with a severe throat infection and 40°C while on 4 grams of paracetamol a day wasn’t my cup of tea.
#10 Namibia in December 2015 was my first solo travel. I definitely felt lonely at times, espicially during the Christmas holidays. I remember sitting by a lagoon with hundreds of flamingos flying over with Christmas songs playing in the background. That was the first time in all these months I felt homesick. One bedeviled flamingo even shit on the roof of my car, one can just never trust flamingos… The next day however was super awesome. I spent Christmas eve with a German noble family I just met. A count and countess. Wonderful people and free champagne, lobster and wine baby! Party like a sir!
#12 I really enjoy making travel videos from my trips, like this one. I show it to my friends and family. I love emmersing myself in the adventure and experiences again when I watch it over. You should try it too!
#13 My biggest dream is saving an endangered species from extinction!
#14 Appearance on television: In 2014 I was cast for a part in the TV series In Flanders Fields about WWI and The White Queen on the BBC. Was fun, earned a little bit of money, however my heroics were only shown for 6seconds xD.
#15 Impossible list. I keep a list of things I’d like to accomplish before the end of each year. Like “read at least one motivating book every month” and “take a quokka selfie”. It’s a little bit like a bucketlist, however a lot more specific. It drives you, it pushes you, It’s very personal. I really encourage you to make one yourself!
#16 my favorite animal is hands-down the elephant. Such an intriguing animal. Read the Elephant Wisperer and you’ll know why! Btw a MUST read for everyone who is passionate about wildlife, vet or non-vet!
#17 When I was 13yo I was quite into modelling with LOTR figures. Then I discovered girls.
